YEATS 2015 A CELEBRATION OF THE MAN, THE LEGACY AND THE INSPIRATION

In 2015 Ireland celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Nobel Prize-winning poet, William Butler Yeats, with a year-long programme of cultural and artistic events called ‘Yeats 2015’.

It presents a local, national and international series of exhibitions, performances, educational events, festivals, concerts, readings, talks and screenings and it will include Yeats Day (June 13th).

Many cultural events will take place in Sligo, Yeats’ ‘spiritual home’, and others will be centred in Galway, Dublin, London and counties across Ireland.

His works highlight his strong connection with the Irish landscape and Sligo’s countryside.

The "Yeats 2015" programme is also focused on the creative legacy of his father, his brother Jack and sisters Susan and Elizabeth, and on his places of residence: Sligo, Dublin and Galway.
