Miss E. F. Hunt
My Dear Niece
I am in receipt of your kind and welcome letter together with a picture, which came quite safe to hand. I am very thankful for your parents and the number in the whole family, their names and ages also, I am indeed very happy to hear that you are blessed with a fine family, I am now too old to think of going over as far as you else I could much like to see you all, you mention that your father is about Coming to visit. I shall be very happy to see him in his native place, I send you a tie, which I hope, will get safe and which you will please wear in remembrance of me - I am happy to tell you that I am in good health as also your uncles and aunts and their families whose names are too numerous to insert, I hope that your parents, yourself, and every member of the family are well.
I am joined by the friends and neighbours in sending you all my and their kind love. I remain your loving grandfather
P. McNamara wishes to be remembered to his former companion & friend Mr. John Hunt excuse this hasty scroll
P.S. Hoping that you will write often to let me know how you all will be getting along yours
