Christmas is coming and Mayo’s towns and villages are getting ready to celebrate . Many Christmas Fairs and Markets will bring a truly festive atmosphere along the streets decorated with Christmas lights . Stalls will be fully packed with ideal gifts to buy for everyone in the family. Knitwear, jewellery, stone craft, traditional crafts and artisan foods and more will be on sale.
Here there is a list of the most popular Christmas markets where it is possible to shop and have fun while doing it.
Ballina
The Mistletoe Market will take place on Saturday 10th December and Sunday 11th December in the Military Quarter, off Pearse Street and beside the Market Square.
It is a European Style Market where he decorated stalls will showcase all their best local traditional crafts and artisan foods. It will be a feast for the senses!
There will be carol singers, festive tunes and Santa will wait children in his Grotto.
Enniscoe Christmas Market
For the first time ever Enniscoe House will host a Christmas Market in the old courtyard. It will take place on Saturday 17th December and Sunday 18th December.
Visitors will browse the cosy stalls put up in this wonderful location and have a stroll around the estate or down Lough Conn. The festive atmosphere and a great mix of special delicacies will match up very well to Enniscoe’s strong food heritage.
Foxford
Foxford Crafts Fair is one of the biggest and well known Christmas markets in Mayo. It will take place from Friday 2nd December to Sunday 4th December at The Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre beside Foxford Wollen Mills.
This eclectic fair will showcase a huge selection of Irish arts and craft including slate craft, bog oak, wood craft, fabrics crafts, pottery, candles, jewellery, seasonal foods and much more.
Ballycastle
Ballycastle Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November in Ballycastle Community Hall. There will be a large array of crafts and tempting fare.
Belderrig
Belderrig Christmas Crafts Fair will take place on Saturday 3rd December in the Community Centre.
