July 2016

Calling all cyclists, dust down the bikes as the Giro de Baile an Chaisil takes place on Sunday 31st July at 10.00 am from Main Street in Ballycastle.

Hosted by Baile and Chaisil Cycling Club the Giro follows a wonderfully scenic course from Ballycastle Village right along the North Mayo Coast cycling right into the heart of Erris. Glancing around you will see the rugged coastline of North Mayo with Céide Fields and the Staggs of Broadhaven in the Distance.

The ride is not a race, it’s a chance to enjoy a challenge with like minded people with spectacular views through out the routes.

This year the Giro will launch “Giro de Baile Vintage Cycle” on Saturday 30th July at 5.30 pm, where all cycling enthusiasts will bring their vintage bikes (pre-90’s steel), gear and memorabilia. The 10 km spin will travel from Ballycastle to Downpatrick Head on the famous Wild Atlantic Way offering breathtaking views and return to the village.

This year the Giro de Baile will see its largest number of participants and will raise money for three charities: Mayo-Roscommon Hospice Foundation, Irish Cancer Society and Family Carers Ireland.
