The National Museum of Country Life is hosting some really scaring events for the 2026 Halloween Season.

A Scare in the Museum, Storytelling Tours

This family-friendly event will take place on Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October at 1.00pm and 3.00pm. Storyteller Hannah Gallagher will guide participants through the Museum’s collections, bringing strange objects and fascinating artefacts to life with spooky stories and mysterious tales. There may be a few eerie surprises along the way!

Halloween Crafts: Creepy Critters

The Creepy Critters Halloween craft workshop will take place on Wednesday 28th , Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October at 12.00 pm, 1.30 pm and 3.00pm.

Children will be helped by crafter Isolde Dingerkus to make eerie and adorable Halloween decorations to take home such as flying bats, leafy hedgehogs and soft, cuddly spiders using natural materials.

Halloween Crafts: Spooky Origami

This hands-on workshop will take place on Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October at 12.30 pm, 2.00pm and 3.30 pm.

The artist Lindsay McConnell will help children to make scary skulls, terrifying pumpkins or a scary moving mouth that opens and closes, using just paper, scissors, glue and a little clever folding.

Scary Objects Halloween Trail

The free Scary Objects Halloween Trail is a spookyand eerie object hunt and will take place in the museum galleries throughout the exhibitions from Saturday, 24th October to Sunday 1st November during the Museum opening hours.

It is an activity that caters for all families and participants will enter a free draw for a spooktacular Halloween hamper.

The Turlough Park Halloween Adventure

This event is hair-raising Halloween Adventure through the gardens and woodland of Turlough Park. It will run from from Saturday 24th  October to Sunday 1st  November during the Museum opening hours.

Children will have to discover mysterious locations including ****Scarecrow Way, Ghost Grove, the Púca Portal and Witches Hollow compliting the activity sheet and the challenges along the way.

Participants will enter a free draw for a spooktacular Halloween hamper.
