National Heritage Week 2025

The 2025 National Heritage Week will take place from Saturday 16th August to Sunday 24th August. It is part of the European Heritage Days.
This year, the theme will be “ Exploring Our Foundation”.It suggests people to appreciate the roots and building blocks that found and shape Irish heritage and cultural activities.
Mayo people proudly will make any efforts to share, enjoy and promote their sense of place and the natural and cultural heritage.
These events cater for all visitors to our County, families and children.

- A Living History of the Inishkea Islands, 23 August from 7pm to 9 pm, Solas Visitor Centre Eachleim.
- Away with the Fairies, 23 August from 8 pm to 9 pm, Mulranny Arts, The Old Convent, Mulranny.
- Ballyglass Area Townlands, 21 August from 7 pm to 9 pm, Ballyglass Community Centre, Ballyglass, Claremorris.
- Bog Walk to the Sandmartin Wall, 19 August from 7.30 pm to 9 pm, Clogher Heritage Complex, Newtown, Claremorris.
- Echoes from North Mayo: An Online Exhibition of Forgotten Voices, 23 and 24 August from 7 am to 11.45 pm at www.stcormac.ie
- Free Genealogy Consultations, 22 August from 10 am to 4 pm, Castlebar Library, Castlebar.
- Introducing Children to the Wonders of the Bog, 23 August from 2 pm to 5 pm, Clogher Heritage Complex, Newtown, Claremorris.
- Irish Uplands Forum visit to Erriff Valley Hill Farm, 16 August from 11am to 2pm, McDonnell Farm, Erriff Valley, Leenane.
- Lough Carra Bioblitz at Moore Hall, 16 August, from 10 am to 4 pm, Moore Hall Forest Recreation Area, Muckloon.
- The Bohea Stone and the Spectacle of the Rolling Sun at Croagh Patrick, 24 August from 7 pm to 10 pm, Brackloon Community Centre, Brackloon, Westport.
- Wesport Fossil Walk, 21 August from 10 am to 11.30 am, Old Mart building behind the St Patrick Monument, Westport.
- Guided Twilight Ghost Walk of Westport, 9 August from 8 pm to 9 pm, The Clock, High Street, Westport.
- Irishtown Heritage Group-Our Community, Our Heritage-Exploring our Foundation, 16 August from 12pm to 5 pm, Irishtown Community Centre, Irishtown Claremorris.
