National Novena

August 2022
The 2022 National Novena will take place from 14th to 22nd August inclusive at Our Lady of Knock.
For this year the theme will be: “A Journey in Hope” thinking and reflecting more deeply on the next Synod.
Throughout the Novena, there will be a “Synod Tent” where people will be able to share their views on church life and reflections on the Synodal Pathway.
Novena Ceremonies will take place at 3 pm and 8 pm in the Basilica.
Each day there will be Guest Speakers & Homilists who will deliver speeches about Hope.

What is Christian Hope? Most Rev Tom Deenihan, Bishop of Meath at 3 pm
- What Gives me Hope Today? Cormac Henry, former Youth Volunteer at Knock Shrine at 8 pm
Monday 15 August
- The Power of Prayer in Difficult Times, Roseanna Ruane, mother of Saoírse Ruane at 3 pm and 8 pm
Tuesday 16 August
- The Synodal Pathway: What have we learned and what will we do? Dr Nicola Brady, Chair of the Synodal Steering Group at 3 pm and 8 pm
Wednesday 17 August
- How Can I Have Hope in my Brokenness? Fr Terence Harrington OFM Cap, St Francis of Assisi Parish in Priorswood, Dublin at 3 pm and 8 pm.
Thursday 18 August
- A Hope that Inspires, Halyna Teslyuk, Associate Professor of Old Testament, Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv at 3 pm and 8 pm.
This day will be a special day of prayer for peace in Ukraine.
Friday 19 August

Saturday 20 August

Eucharist: a Sign of Hope, Fr Michael McKeever, Diocesan Secretary, Diocese of Raphoe at 3 pm
- God in Everything that Lives: A Reflection on Laudato Si, Professor John Feehan, Geologist, Botanist, Author and Broadcaster at 8 pm
Sunday 21 August, the Anniversary of the Apparition

- Knock, the Vision of Hope, Fr Richard Gibbons, PP and Rector, Knock Shrine at 8 pm
Monday 22 August
- The Call of the Lord, Most Rev Francis Duffy, Archbishop of Tuam at 3 pm and 8 pm.
Family Day
Family Day will take place on Sunday 21st August from 11 am to 3 pm on the grounds of Knock Shrine.
The event caters for families, there will be outdoor activities on the green and indoor workshops, games and more.
