The 2023 Scoil Acla Summer School will take place from Saturday, 22nd July, to Saturday, 29th July, on Achill Island.

It was founded in 1910 to preserve and promote the Irish language and traditional Irish music and was revived in 1985.

The extensive range of traditional music classes available at Scoil Acla includes accordion, banjo, bodhrán, concertina, flute, fiddle, harp, tin whistle, uilleann pipes and bagpipes workshop, guitar accompaniment and piano accompaniment for all levels.

Many sessions will be held around Achill Island throughout the week.

There will be workshops in Traditional Irish Dance, Sean-Nós singing and classes in the Irish Language (Gaeilg’ Acla).

In addition, there will be a range of workshops, lectures, launches, readings, concerts and sessions, providing participants of all interests with an unforgettable experience.

Also, there will be a Quilting workshop and the popular Traditional Basket Weaving course.
