The 2024 Scoil Acla Summer School will be held on Achill Island from Sunday, July 28th, to Saturday, August 3rd.

It was founded in 1910 to preserve and promote the Irish language and traditional Irish music and was revived in 1985.

Scoil Acla offers tuition in a range of instruments for beginners, intermediate and advanced students of all ages and abilities.

The extensive range of traditional music classes available at Scoil Acla includes accordion, banjo, bodhrán, concertina, flute, fiddle, harp, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, guitar accompaniment and piano accompaniment.

Many sessions will be held around Achill Island throughout the week.

There will be workshops in traditional Irish dance, Sean-Nós singing, and classes in the Irish language, which is spoken on Achill Island (Gaeilg’ Acla).

Also, there will be a Quilting workshop and the popular Traditional Basket Weaving course.
