The 2025 Scoil Acla Summer School will be held on Achill Island from Sunday, July 27th, to Saturday, 2nd August.

THis year the world- renowed accordion player and composer Sharon Shannon will open the event with a concert on Sunday 27th July celebrating the 40th anniversary of the summer school on Achill Island.

The well-known Mayo Musician Tom Doherty will be the Artist in Residence for 2025.

Scoil Acla offers tuition in a range of instruments for beginners, intermediate and advanced students of all ages and abilities.

The extensive range of traditional music classes available at Scoil Acla includes accordion, banjo, bodhrán, concertina, flute, fiddle, harp, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, guitar accompaniment and piano accompaniment.

Many sessions will be held around Achill Island throughout the week.

There will be workshops in traditional Irish dance, Sean-Nós singing, and classes in Gaeilg’ Acla, the Irish spoken on the island.

Also, there will be a tours of the island, storytelling, writing and recital workshops and the popular Traditional Basket Weaving course.
