Summer at Wild Nephin National Park 2023

For Summer 2023, the Wild Nephin National Park will organise special Guided Walks and the Wild Child Clubs for Kids.

Here is the programme of events for July and August and it caters for all ages.

Wild Child Clubs

Wild Child Clubs will run every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August at 2.30 pm in Ballicroy Visitor Centre.

The kids' clubs will cover topics such as animal adaptations, wildflower workshops, myths surrounding biodiversity and seashore ecology.

Guided Nature Walks

Walks will take place on Wednesdays Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail.

Pollinator and Wildflowers Workshops

Workshops will run n July 8th & August 12th at Ballycroy Visitor Centre at 12 noon.

Participants will learn about pollinator diversity & the wildflowers they feed on, and how to identify & record them.

International Bog Day

The event is scheduled to occur for a duration of two days.

On July 22nd, there will be the “Brilliance of our Bogs”. Participants will learn about the beautiful wildflowers and plants of Mayo’s bogs.

On July 23rd, the “Bog Walk with Wild Atlantic Nature.”

Ranger Led Hike for World Ranger Day

A full day of hiking will take place on Nephin Beg.

A high level of fitness is required.

National Heritage Week

Events will take place from August 12th to August 20th.

Meadow Making and Seed Collecting

It will run from August 26th to August 27th at Ballycroy Visitor Centre.

Participants will discover how to harvest different types of seeds and make their own meadow.
