Hearth and Community will run on Achill Island from Friday 4th March to Sunday 6th March 2022.

The event is a unique exploration of the anthropology of Irish Food.

Food has been influenced by the Irish environment and provided a unique identity to the West of Ireland, shaping community and traditions.

The recreation of the "Neolithic kitchen" Fulacht Fiadh will be the event's main attraction, and a demonstration of the ancient cooking method will take place.

Also, there will be talks by academic lecturers on the topics.

Throughout the weekend, more traditional food demonstrations, seanós evenings and tours of the island will take place.
