Giro de Baile an Chaisil

"GIRO DE BAILE" North Mayo Cycle Tour run by Baile An Chaisil Cycling Club will take place on Sunday 3rd August commencing at 10.30a.m.

A large number of cyclists will be in the town and passing through the Ballycastle area throughout the day - starting from 9.00 a.m. onwards. Road users are advised to take due care. Thank you for your co-operation in facilitating this tour.

Cyclists interested in taking part in the 130km or 60km Routes and 10km family cycle can register at the Parish Hall in Ballycastle on Sunday morning from 9a.m. or alternatively you can Register on-line at cyclingireland.ie. Please support.

Ballycastle Festival

Some more events during Ballycastle/Belderrig Festival 2014 which takes place from Thursday 31st July to Saturday 9th August include Belderrig Bronze Man triathlon on Saturday 2nd August, which consists of a 100m swim, 4km Cycle and 4km run. Open to men and women. Junior section consists of a cycle and run. Registration at the shore from 12.00noon.

Children’s Sports Day after the main race and Tug of War at 1.00p.m. in Belderrig also on Saturday 2nd.

Golf on Ballycastle beach on Sunday 3rd at 12.00noon.

Free entry to Céide Fields on Wednesday 6th from 10.00a.m. – 6.00p.m.

There will be a competition for the best dressed window in the town (public or private building).

Voice of Ballycastle

Best of Luck to the 12 Acts who will participate in the Voice of Ballycastle:

  • Saturday July 26th : Katie Macs Bar at 8.30p.m.

  • Thursday 31st July : Céide Fields Visitor Centre at 8.00p.m.

  • Final: Saturday August 2nd: Healyfest Beer Garden at 9.00p.m.

Outdoor Mass

Mass on Downpatrick Head (weather permitting) on Sunday next 27th July at 12.00noon.

Cemetery Masses

  • Sunday 3rd August: Ballycastle Cemetery at 3.00p.m. and Kilbride Cemetery at 4.00p.m.

  • Sunday 10th August: Belderrig Cemetery at 2.30p.m. and Doonfeeney Cemetery at 4.00p.m.

Tractor Run

Tractor Run, organised by West Coast Vintage Society, will take place on Saturday 9th August in aid of ‘Kiddies Korner’ Playschool.

Registration will take place at 5.00p.m. in Ballycastle Resource Centre where refreshments will be served.

Run will depart at 5.30p.m. and return at 7.00p.m. All types of vehicles welcome. €10 per vehicle.

Golf Society

Next outing is to Ballina Golf Course on 25/07/2014

1st: tee is at 10.00am so please be there for 9.30a.m.

Craft Shop

Craft Shop is located in the Resource Centre, Upper Main Street stocking goods by local craftworkers e.g. knitwear, crochet, handmade cards, candles, fridge magnets, wooden bowls, cushions etc.

Also, Paintings by local artists, Mayo Crystal and a range of other items.

Other Facilities available: Tourist Information, Photocopying, Laminating, Typing.

Opening Hours: Monday – Friday 10.00a.m. – 5.00p.m. (closed for lunch 1 – 2.00p.m.)

Library

Library is located in the VEC Building (former Secondary School) and is open on Wednesdays from 9.30a.m. – 4.00p.m.

Community Hall

Monday: Bingo at 9.00p.m.

Thursday: Basketball for girls & boys 8 – 10yrs from 5.30p.m. – 6.30p.m. and for girls & boys 10yrs and over from 6.30p.m. – 7.30p.m. €2 per child.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has now been located at the Community Hall, Ballycastle and will operate within a two mile radius of the Hall.

  3. Start CPR immediately while awaiting responder and emergency services.
