Culture Night in Ballycastle

In Celebrating Culture Night on 19th September 6 - 9pm, The Ballinglen Arts Foundation invites you to an evening of Art, Culture & Music. Donald Teskey's Exhibition 'Atlantic - Paintings' continues in the Ballinglen Gallery and is definitely one not to be missed.

Philadelphia artist Alice Austin is hosting a workshop on an Artists Book including how to make an instant book, a woven flexagon and an endless origami book.

Open Artists Studios where you can see their work in progress and music by local talent Erin Langan. So come out and enjoy Culture Night with an action packed evening & a glass of wine.

This event is free of charge.

Cake Sale

Cake Sale in St. John’s Hall, Ballycastle on Saturday 20th September at 8.30p.m. with home-made cakes, bread & jams, garden produce and lots of other items. Guess the weight of the cake. Please support.

All proceeds in aid of St. John’s Church, Ballycastle.

Retirement

Another business at the bottom of Main Street closed its doors for the last time on Sunday 14th September. O’Gradys Victuallers, open since the 1850’s and run by three generations of the O’Grady family has closed. Georgie has run the business for the last forty eight years.

We wish Georgie, Marcella, Seán, Georgina and Sorcha all the very best for the years ahead.

Deaths

The death occurred on Saturday 13th September of Catherine Kelly, Santry, Dublin and formerly of Main Street, Ballycastle. Sympathy is extended to her husband Martin, son Niall, mother Mary, brother Michael, sisters Mary, Margaret and Breege, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The death occurred on Saturday 13th September of Jerry Connor, Crott and formerly of Main Street, Ballycastle. Sympathy is extended to his wife Mary, daughters Geraldine and Áine, sons Michael and Tom, brother Willie, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The death occurred on Sunday 14th of Willie Barrett, Carrowcubic, Ballycastle. Sympathy is extended to his wife Cauleen, sons Liam, Anthony, Richard, Pádraic, and Oliver, daughters Kathryn and Kellie, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, relatives and friends.

May they rest in peace.

Craft Shop is located in the Resource Centre, Upper Main Street stocking goods by local craftworkers e.g. knitwear, crochet, handmade cards, candles, fridge magnets, wooden bowls, cushions etc.

Also, Paintings by local artists, Mayo Crystal and a range of other items.

Other Facilities available: Tourist Information, Photocopying, Laminating, Typing.

  3. Start CPR immediately while awaiting responder and emergency services.
