About 1.345 billion poor people in developing countries live on $1.25 a day or less. Almost half the world – over three billion people – lives on less than $2.50 a day. At least 80 per cent of people live on less than $10 a day. (World Bank)

One in eight people throughout the world suffered from chronic undernourishment in 2010-2012. About 852 million hungry people live in developing countries, representing 15 per cent of those countries’ population. Sixteen million people are undernourished in developed countries. More than 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. (UNICEF)

Celebration Go Wild!’ Win ‘The Irish Times’

Erris Community to Celebrate ‘Go Wild!’ Win ‘The Irish Times’ will officially present the Erris region with the title of ‘best place in Ireland to go wild!’ during a special community celebration on Saturday, 28th March 2015.

The event will take place in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet, from 12 noon to 4pm. There will be lots of family fun, children’s activities, food, drink and music - a date for your diary!
