The 8th National Grandparents pilgrimage to Our Lady's shrine at Knock takes place on Sunday 14th September.

Blessing of the sick 2.30pm, Mass 3pm. Chief Celebrant Archbishop Charles Brown Papal Nuncio. Everyone welcome.

Children are invited to compose a prayer for their Grandparents and send it to CGA office Castlebar St Westport Co Mayo. All prayers will be displayed in the basilica and blessed during the Mass.

Mayfield Lake, Wetlands and its Archaeological Heritage.

A talk, guided walk and archaeological mapping using geophysical surveying. Event taking place in the Mayfield Community Building, in Claremorris on the 28th August from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Topics include: Known and unknown heritage, archaeology, lake size and area, lake use and ownership and wildlife.

Claremorris Scarecrow Festival

The 2nd Claremorris Scarecrow Festival takes place from August 25th to August 30th 2014 – organised by Claremorris Family Resource Centre and Claremorris Men’s Shed.

Events for the week include Scarecrow Window Displays, Scarecrow Fancy Dress for Children, Mini Scarecrow Trail (on Saturday, August 30th at the Clare Lake from 11am to 12:30) and presentation prizes ceremony by members of the Claremorris Special Olympics team on August 30th at 1pm at The Square, Claremorris.

Judging for the Scarecrow Window Displays will take place on Thursday, August 28th by a mystery Judge so make sure your displays are finalised to ensure entry into the competition.

Best of luck to you all and looking forward to seeing an invasion of Scarecrows to the town of Claremorris.
