First Communion Parent`s Meeting

First Communion parents/guardians from Ballindine and Irishtown are invited to an introduction meeting on the “Do This in Memory Programme “on Tuesday 21st October @ 8pm in Ballindine School Gym, with facilitator Mary Connell.

Confirmation Parent`s Meeting

An information meeting for parents/guardians of children from Ballindine and Irishtown who wish to make their Confirmation next February, will take place on Wednesday 22nd October at 8pm in Ballindine N.S. Gym, with facilitator Mary Connell.

Marriage

Congratulations to Noel Reapy, Ballindine and Mairéad Mannion, Belcarra, Castlebar, who were married recently in St. Anne`s Church, Belcarra.

New Pastoral Council

A new Pastoral Council for our parish is to be set up for the four years 2015-2018. In the next week a brochure will be delivered to every home in the parish, inviting people to nominate persons to go forward for the new Council.

Each family is asked to nominate two people – one man and one woman and at least one under 35 years.

Closing date for nominations is Sunday 26th Oct.

Saint Gerard Majella

Saint Gerard Majella "Patron Saint of Motherhood," Annual Triduum (3 day Festival of Faith) will take place in Esker Redemptorist Church from Oct 13th –15th. 2 sessions each day 10am & 8pm.

Volunteer

Volunteer needed for Children`s Liturgy at 12noon Mass in Ballindine, training will be provided. Tel: 087-2555007.

Children explore the Gospel in their own language & offer their artwork at the Altar during Mass.

World Mission Day 19th October

Next Sunday is World Mission Day 19th October – All offertory donations next weekend will be given to the Missions.

Pope Francis reminds us that this is a privileged moment when the faithful of various continents engage in prayer and concrete gestures of solidarity in support of the young Churches in mission lands.

Please help World Missions Ireland to be able to share the gift of faith through your prayer and financial support of the missions.

Celebration of Marriage Anniversaries

A special Celebration of significant marriage anniversaries will be held in Tuam Cathedral on Sunday 19th Oct. at 3pm At this ceremony there will be renewal of marriage vows, and each couple will receive a candle and Prayer Card in remembrance of the occasion.

Refreshments afterwards in St. Jarlath`s College –All welcome to attend.

Celtic Flames

Celtic Flames present a spectacular show of music, song, dance and story in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on Friday 14th November at 8 pm. Total proceeds will go to the Geraldine Lavelle Trust Fund. Geraldine, a native of Castlebar, suffered a spinal fracture as a result of a cycling accident which left her paralysed from the chest down.

Val Glynn, Ballindine will be taking part in the Dublin City Marathon Oct 27 - ALL FUNDS raised will be donated to the Roisín Tansey Trust Fund -

Care Skills Module

CARE SKILLS MODULE - QQI (FETAC) Level 5 Care Skills Module will take place in the Claremorris Family Resource Centre, Mount Street - Commencing 16th Oct. and will run for 5 weeks. This module will include; Client Care skills, use of equipment with the care setting and application of client care skills.

Book Launch

Book Launch: Claremorris woman Cróna Esler, deputy editor of the Western People, will launch her new book - Unless By Invitation, Crimes That Shocked Ireland - in the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on Tuesday October 14, at 7.30pm. The book will be officially launched by Jim Higgins, former FG spokesperson for justice.

All are welcome to attend.
